where is Outlander currently filming ?

information about Outlander filming is difficult to get hold of as the team have a lot of experience now of doing their work discretely without drawing any attention to themselves . Outlander has definitely been filming at Doune Castle / Castle Leoch this year – twice actually . I went to Doune Castle in February and I was on set when they were filming . The only question is whether they were filming Outlander season 8 or the prequel Outlander Blood of my Blood . I did not recognise any of the actors on set so I think it was the prequel they were filming . We know now that filming for Outlander Blood of my Blood is completed , so hopefully we will see it on our screens early next year .

In June I heard about Doune Castle being closed for two days so I suspected it was for filming . I managed to get there the day after the closure and the only clue about the filming was a carriage left in front of the castle . I suspect this was season 8 filming but it’s difficult to be sure . The question is who was in the carriage and what part of the story were they filming .

The eighth season of the show will adapt Diana Gabaldon’s ninth book in the eponymous source novel series, titled ‘Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone,’ set during the American Revolutionary War. The narrative explores the strains on the relationship of Claire and Jamie’s amidst the war’s backdrop. While the show may deviate slightly from the book’s events, season 7 provides hints of potential developments. Gabaldon previously teased that Jamie and Claire’s tale will have a “happy ending” and the viewers can expect the period drama to end with the same.

The upcoming season of the show will bring back Caitríona Balfe and Sam Heughan as Claire and Jamie, concluding their time-bending romance that has been the highlight of the show. The returning ensemble may include Sophie Skelton (Brianna “Bree” Fraser MacKenzie), Richard Rankin (Roger MacKenzie), David Berry (Lord John Grey), Charles Vandervaart and John Bell , promising heightened stakes in the concluding twists of the tale. In addition to the familiar faces, we can expect new additions to the cast as well.

It is always difficult to know where Outlander is currently filming due to the ring of secrecy around it but I can say for certain they have filmed twice at Doune Castle / Castle Leoch this year . I will give further updates about Outlander filming when I get them.
